Fishball and Cauliflower in Tomato Sauce Recipe (Halal) – A Great Kiddy Meal Recipe for all stay at Home Moms and Househusbands also....!

Although this is a very simple and easy recipe, I found that many kids like it. If your kids don’t like to take fresh tomato, you can blend some tomatoes and add it to the tomato sauce which is the main ingredient in this recipe. For the old or maybe young guys out there, eating tomatoes is good for your prostate;.......to ensure good bladder control when you are old and also to avoid prostate cancer which is very common nowadays! Anyway, you can use all kind of ‘balls’ for this recipe; fish balls, saito fish balls, sotong (squid) balls, prawn balls or chicken balls.....! LOL!

Ingredients
Fish Balls, 10pcs, you can cut into half or onto kids bite size
Cauliflower, about the size of a small rice bowl, cut into bite size (optional)
Tomato sauce, 7 tablespoons '
Tomato, 2 pcs, blended (optional)
Soya sauce, 1 table spoon
Sugar, to taste
Salt, to taste
Bay Leaf (optional), 1 pc
Onions, 1 pc, cut into four

Heat up wok and add some vegetable oil. Sauté onions until it caramelize a little. Add in some water, tomato sauce, fresh tomato paste, soya sauce, sugar, salt, cauliflower and bay leaf. Bring to a boil and put in the fish balls. The sauce should be thick and smooth. If not you can add some more tomato sauce or just us a little corn flour with water to thicken it. Garnish with springs onions and serve with steamed rice.

Plain Type Bak Kut Teh, Restaurant Ye Xin Ge, People’s Park, PJ

If you love plain soup bak kut teh without all the strong Chinese herbal smell, then this old timer Ye Sin Ge bak kut teh suits your taste. I remembered that I ate this bak kut teh in their old location in Section 14 once many years ago when I was a junior engineer working nearby there. Now the old location has been taken over by TGIF. Ye Xin Ge is located by a row of shoplots on your left just after the Kelana Jaya LRT station if you are travelling towards Sunway. We dropped by this restaurant after taking the kids to the National Science Centre in Kiara. It has been a long time since I last ate here. It was the 1st day of January 2010, a New Year day and the restaurant was not packed at all. Maybe all the late night revelers are still sleeping. We ordered a bowl of mixed bak kut teh, 2 bowls of yau char kueh, braised mushroom (tung ku), vegetable, sour vegetable soup and tau pok (fried bean curd). The bak kut teh is served using a porcelain bowl which is the main signature of this restaurant. As expected soup is plain but favourful and without the strong herbal smell. We ate all the pork and innards except the pig tail which is rather oily. Nice, they still manage to retain the standard all these years. The total bill of for all the dishes, 7 bowls of rice and tea came up to be RM83. Restoran Yi Xin Ge23, Jln SS4D/2, People's Park, Petaling Jaya. (Open 6.30am - 9pm) Map to Restaurant Ye Xin Ge

Restaurant Sg Long, Kajang, Selangor

My family and I had a quick lunch in this restaurant. We had some errands to run in the area and we hopped in to Restaurant Sg Long, which is the first restaurant you will notice when you turned into the road leading to UTAR in this area. It was a weekend and not many patrons around because it was way passed lunch time. As usual, my son would want to try the Har Mee (Hokkien Mee), I had the Chee Cheong Fun with Har Ko (prawn paste), my wife ordered the duck rice for my daughter and herself. Unfortunately, when the supposedly duck rice arrived, we found out it was actually chicken. This is the problem when the owner let a foreigner run their stall. Below is the review of the food!

I always love eating chee cheong fun (RM 2 for 2 rolls) with har ko (prawn paste) sauce. The sauce is nice and it was garnished with generous amount of Chee Mau (toasted sesame seeds) & crispy fried shallots. Ok, the chee cheong fun passed the test! LOL!

I took one piece of the pork ribs from my son’s Hokkien mee (RM4). It was tender, juicy and nice. The soup is quite good also and can be enhanced further by adding more of the chilly boh (paste) provided.

The braised chicken was rather bland in taste and flavours, so was the braised intestine too. I guess I am more in to flavourful and salty type of food! However, the stall owner needs to relook into his recipe! It cost me RM14 for one plate of braised chicken, one plate of braised pig intestine and 3 bowls of rice.

Coffee Shop Talk with my American Friend about the Sighting of Pontianak (Ghost) in Kuala Ibai, Terengganu

........... As usual, I have my morning caffeine shot at Ah Lian Kopitiam with my American Friend. John, who was reading the morning newspaper suddenly stopped and says.....

John : Do you think Pontianak (Lady ghost who died at childbirth) really exist, Pete? It was reported here that there were sightings of a lady in white apparition at Kuala Ibai.

Me : Well, if we look at it through scientific point of view, the apparition might be caused by disturbance of electromagnetic force, imbalances of ions especially around big trees and maybe interaction between the moonlight with layers of hot/cold air.

John : So, you don’t believe in ghost?

Suddenly, Ah Lian interrupted our conversation.......

Ah Lian : Wei, ghost do really exist, you know! I have met a pontianak before! That time I was dating Ah Too. We were sitting in a park near Kampung Chempaka when we saw a woman with bloodshot eyes, long teeth and long black hair squatting on the tree above us.

Me : Wah lau leh! Tell us more lah!

So, here is Ah Lian story... Not long ago........in a park near Kampung Chempaka.....

Ah Lian : Hey, Ah Too did you see the ‘thing’ on that tree?

Ah Too : Eeeeeeeeiiiik, pontianak lah! Just now my ‘thing’ standing, now ‘kecut’ (shrink) already!

Ah Lian : What are we going to do? She is flying towards us now! Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Pontianank : Woi, why are both of you shouting so loud?

Ah Lian : Wah, you can talk ah! We scared mah!

Pontianak : Why so scared? I am not going to hurt you all!

Ah Too : But but but......I heard that pontianak like to suck people blood. Don’t suck my blood! I am already ‘San kiu kiu’ (skinny in Hokkien)!

Pontianak : Aiya, both of you already out of date. Nowadays, pontianak don’t suck blood anymore. So many people have HIV (AIDs), dangerous lah! Like your boyfriend here, always visit the ‘Chicken House’ (whore house) in Pudu, I ‘takut’(scared) to suck his blood! It is safer to order synthetic blood online, from HellBay and pay with HellPal!

Ah Lian : Ahhhhh Toooo, I will deal with you later! Wah, like that also can ar? Your world also so advance ah? What are you doing up the tree? Are you peeping on dating couples like us?

Pontianak : No lah, I am running away from a bunch of crazy people who is trying to capture me in video, so they can become rich. They are using all sorts of magnetic wave detectors to find me! Crazy! Nothing better to do!

Ah Lian : Aiya, die already also so charm (pitiful)!

Pontainak : So, next time you see a ghost, you should not be afraid. All we do is scare people with our looks! Human beings are more dangerous, so manipulative and many are opportunist as well!

Ah Lian : Agree lorr! But if capture on film, you will be famous leh!

Pontianak : Not tonight lah, I forgot to make up! Then, all of us laughed out damm loud. Ah Lian’s story really made our day!

Installing Ikea Three Layers Shoe Cabinet

The shoe cabinet still wrapped in plastic. My favourite tool, the powerdrill! Installing the first section. All done, the shoe cabinet mounted on the wall!
I have been spending too much time in Ikea and home improvement lately. There are still lots of stuff to do but then work kept me away from doing all these. My daughter has lots of shoes and all the shoe racks in my house are filled up to the brim. So, it is time to get a new shoe rack or maybe a shoe cabinet, something that is practical and can keep all the shoes neatly. I found this three sections shoe cabinet in Ikea. It is made from industrial strength plastics and can be installed vertically or horizontally. Since it is made from plastic and light, the installation process was a breeze. I just need to get my measurement on the wall that I am going to install it right. I mounted it on the wall so that it will get in the way. I managed to get everything installed and cleaned up within one hour! Now, Maggi mee time, to reward myself! Ha ha ha!

A Trip to a Famosa Resort, Melaka

I did not plan any overseas trip during the last school holidays. It is very taxing to bring a hyperactive 2 years old toddler overseas for a holiday. Therefore, we just booked a “Beverly Hills Condotel” room in A Famosa Resort for the whole family. It is suppose to be a relaxing trip for the family. We started our journey from KL early, so that we will be able to catch some of the animal shows. It took us around 1 hour 45 minutes drive from KL to A Famosa using the Alor Gajah, Tampin exit. We paid RM358 (USD 108) for a family Condotel room plus complimentary admission in to Safari Animal World and Cowboy Town for the Street Carnival. There are two double beds in the Condotel, a small kitchen (cooking not allowed), living area and dining area. A Famosa is a 520 hectare Integrated resort with facilities like 27 hole International Golf Green (beware, there are live crocodiles in Crocodile Nine pit), Water World, Animal World Safari, Cowboy Town (plus Street Carnival and parade), Horse Riding, Fishing, Bicycle & Chariots Rides, jungle tracking, kite flying, paintball and go-kart riding. There is plenty of accommodation available such as the Resort Hotel, D’Savoy Condotel, Villa D’Amour, Villa D’Faro, Villa D’Lagos and Beverly Hills Condotel. Here are random pictures of our trip.
First stop, Animal World Safari. We missed the Elephant show that starts at 10.15am. Next was the Multi Animal Show. An otter doing tricks and cat jumping over a fire rind. Rather entertaining and long show!
Poor orangutan, dressed up in swimming costume. Must be a female one. Malaysian Honey Bear on a scooter.
White rats on tight lines. Next, to the Bird Show venue (12 noon)
Raising the National Flag and a Seahawk.
Ducks.....I am thinking of having roast duck, stomach rumbling already! Graceful Flamingoes!
Lunch inside Animal Safari food court. Curry rice plus one can of softdrink cost me RM12 (USD3.60). Expensive and not nice at all. However, my kids said the Chicken rice is ok. Then after lunch, we took a boat to Monkey Island. Water seeps through the back portion of the boat. It is about time they do a schedule maintenance on the boat! My little boy feeding a monkey longbeans!
A peahen sunbathing in Monkey Island. Elephant rides, poor Patchyderms, have to work hard!

Before driving back to KL, I drove down to Tampin town to check out whether there is any nice hawker food. Can't find any restaurants with hawkers fare. Found this nice Toaist temple by the road leading to town. Dropped by to pay respect and took some pictures.
