My Old Faithful Raleigh Rangler Bicycle

My sister bought this bicycle for me 30 years ago. The Raleigh Rangler bicycle has a horse logo, just like the Ferrari Sports Car. It was my ‘Ferrari’, when I was a young boy. My dad still keeps it in good shape and once a while when I am back in my hometown, my kids will use it to ride around the neighborhood. Seeing my kids riding it brings back loads of memories in my mind. This bicycle was my best friend when I was a kid and I spent countless hours riding it. I used it to look for fishing spots in rivers and estuaries near Prai. I even went on my first date with my childhood sweetheart on it, ha ha. LOL. That reminds me of the late Sudirman song, ‘Orang biasa, basikal tua........’.

  3. I used to have a bike too. Used to stroll along Pantai Bersih with it. But my mom threw it away because she said it's 'karat' and looks nothing like a bike. Just some besi buruk messing her yard. Sobs. My mom is mean. i used to paktor with my husband with that bike!

  5. Hi Pete, I still keep my Raleigh Rangler with me. Red colour. Still in original colour. I believe it is 36 years old now so the stickers are faded. Most original parts are still with the bicycle.

  6. Yes Pete, i hardly find information about this bicycle across the internet. Not much of a coverage. Congratulations to you Pete who had made it up. At least we can share our thoughts. Raleigh Rangler was manufactured in Batu Tiga, Shah Alam factory which was setted up in 1968. It has 2 colour merely red and sky blue (like your sister's bicycle). Did she still keep her Rangler?

  7. The 20' wheels and hubs (front and back) on the Raleigh Rangler are made by Sturmey-Archer England. Same goes to the front and back brakes. It was born in Raleigh Chopper and Raleigh Roamer era. Lived in 70's 80's and it is rare now. Some are still in existence but very less seen on road unlike Chopper where most of their fans are still around doing the restorations but true Raleigh fans normally will look for the Rangler and Roamer to complete the collectibles.
