Simple Dinner at Ho Weng Kee, SS2 Family Type Restaurant

This restaurant is a favourite place for family meals. There is nothing fancy about Ho Weng Kee SS2 restaurant, but they serve good plain family type of dishes at affordable price. If you pass through this area, chances are you will not miss this restaurant because they owner does his cooking outside the restaurant near to the inner main road. I took my dinner there recently. We ordered Steamed Tilapia (Fei Chow Yee) with Bean Paste (Chew Chow Cheng), Sweet & Sour Pork for the kids, Hot Plate Japanese Tofu and plain stir fried vegetable (Choy Tam). The tilapia is nice, no strong mud smell. The sauce is good too. My kids like the sweet and sour pork. Taste ok to me. The hot plate tofu have nice aroma and best eaten when hot. Choy Tam plain fried is crunchy with a bit of ‘wok hei’ smell. Overall the meal is satisfactory. The total bill for 5 adults and 2 children came out to be RM73. Not bad for SS2 area where the property rental is very expensive!

  1. looks delish....but cooking outside? won't the dishes be filled with road dust and debris? as for the sweet and sour pork...unusual colour for sweet and sour. usually redish right?

  2. It is inner lane of the main road, so no problem. At least I can see how the cook prepare the food. If the kitchen is inside we do not know what is going on. Yeah, the sweet and sour pork looks that way because got more plum sauce than tomato sauce added......or maybe my camera lighting also.....
