My daughter's home made octopus lantern. Guess what is it made of?
My daughter submitted this octopus lantern made from recycled 7up plastic bottle. I helped her to wire up the light bulb and switch using parts from my son’s toys. I thought it was cute and there will not be much competition in the below 12 years old category. We did not add any elaborate design to the octopus lantern. She was a little disappointed when she saw many complex and huge home made lantern entries from other children below 12 years old. Anyway she did not win any prizes but we had great fun at the festival. Among the VIPs that attended this function was YB R. Sivarasa (Ahli Parlimen Subang), YB Elizabeth Wong (Adun Bukit Lanjan), YB Dr Cheah Wing Yin (Adun Damansara Utama) and YB Gan Pei Nei (Adun Rawang). Here are some random photos I took at the Bukit Lanjan Lantern Festival 2009, held at a park in Jln Kenanga SD 9/1, Bandar Sri Damansara. These lanterns are for the below 12 category These lanterns are for 13 to 17 years old category These are adults entries, Nice! Performances by Chinese orchestra and kids Lion dance welcoming YBs YB Dr Cheah Wing Yin (Adun Damansara Utama) and YB Miss Gan Pei Nei (Adun Rawang) on stage giving speeches!YB R. Sivarasa (MP Subang) and YB Miss Elizabeth Wong
YB Elizabeth Wong (Adun Bkt Lanjan) giving a speech and singing on stage with other YBs. She joking said that her service centre cannot afford to hire singers, so YBs have to sing! ha ha ha!
They sang 'Yue Liang Tai Piau Wa Ther Sing' (The moon represent my heart).
The festival closed with a boom of fireworks display and lantern walkabout.
