Wing Seng Restaurant, Bt 9 Cheras – A Hearty Meal

Wing Seng Restaurant and MCA Bt 9 Division in it! Stir Fried Cauliflower and Steamed Chinese Herbal Chicken.
The Sweet and Sour Garoupa Dish, nicely presented!
Claypot Pork Belly with Salted Fish and the huge Claypot Tofu Dish Ku Lo Yoke for the kids and Stir Fried Yau Mak. See how big is the Tofu Claypot? And when I thought all the dishes are served.......then came the Crab Meat Soup!

Wing Seng is located in the middle of Cheras 9th Mile new village. In fact there are many village style restaurants around this area. Wing Seng restaurant which consist of two village houses combined together has a very simple setting. This is a place for the residents to get together and also families to have a quick budget meal. The Bt. 9 MCA service center is located inside this restaurant! One thing for sure the dishes in this restaurant are really huge and 13 of us found it hard to finish all the dishes. My brother in law over ordered the food......dishes after dishes arrived one after another.
We had Stir Fried Cauliflower, Ham Yee Fah Lam Poh (Clay pot pork belly with salted fish), Herbal Chicken, Sweet Sour Grouper, Stir Fried Yau Mak (Romaine Lettuce), Clay pot Tofu, Ku Lo Yoke (sweet and sour meat) and Crab Meat Soup. There is nothing to shout about the Stir Fried Cauliflower. It tastes normal to me. I like the Ham Yee Fah Lam Poh. The meat is tender and the aroma of deep fried salted fish is very inviting! The herbal chicken has very nice Chinese Herbal Flavours although it looks rather plain. I think it was steamed with Yok Chock, Kei Chi, Tong Kwai and Chinese cooking wine. The Grouper fish is quite big and taste good in the sweet sour tomato sauce. The flesh is very succulent and tender. Nice! The stir fried yau mak (Romaine lettuce) has nice wok hei (wok burn) smell and crunchy as well. I got a shocked when the Clay pot tofu was served. The serving is really huge and the clay pot is of XXXXXL size. I think it can serve at least 20 people. However, the taste is quite good and my little toddler liked it very much. We ordered Ku Lo yoke (Sweet sour pork) for the kids. Anyway, I finished most of this dish.....ha ha ha! Then, when I thought that all the dishes have been served, the waiter came out from the kitchen with a big pot of Crab Meat Soup. Since there is no more place on the table to put this dish, they divided the soup in to single serving’s bowls for us. It tastes quite good after eating all the heavy stuff! The total bill for 13 adults and 2 toddlers came up to be RM258. Overall, the food is satisfactory!

  25. Dinner on Friday the 13th, 13 people, 13" claypot haha..just kidding. A Aussie friend told me over dinner that we Chinese have big eyes small stomach..huh??? Chinese order food with eyes wide open, take this take that and that.. but our stomach is too small most of the time ended up 'tapau' (takeaway). Heard it's happening in Beijing, the Chinese there are 'wasting' on food as they tend to over order. [Not so sure its an isolated case or across the board].
