Teluk Intan Sin Guan Hoe Heong Peah Biscuit
Teluk Intan is one of the food havens in Malaysia. I gave a plate of pizza to my wife’s colleague the other day and she gave me a packet of Teluk Intan Heong Peah when she returned me the plate. In Penang we called it Beh Teh Soh.
Yup, she brought it all the way from Teluk Intan and the heong peah is really fresh. The outer crust is very flaky and the sesame seeds gave it extra aroma! I love the slight salty maltose sugar inside which has the right sweetness that suits my taste buds. The ingredients listed on the packet are wheat flour, maltose, sesame seed, margarine, vegetable oil, salt, sugar and shallots. Maybe I will try to make this next time! I ate 5 pcs at one go.......LOL!

ReplyDeleteWow..... you ate 5 pieces in one go! I can imagine they must be so delicious. I actually saw these at Chinatown, London and bought a packet recently. It is not as delicious as I expected. I think they are not fresh enough. I hope to go back one day to try the freshly made ones. I'm sure they taste awesome.

ReplyDeleteWah! Got Chinese pantang - people give things, cannot return empty plate, must balas one. I also practise that! They say Teluk Intan heong peah the best. I had some good ones from Taiping long ago - the filling still soft, runny and gooey - not hard like most that I buy these days...

ReplyDeletethe last time i went to TI was few years ago, that time i bought the Tiger brand heong peang.. now there is a branch in ipoh selling TI products.. but too bad no TI chee cheong fun yet! :p

yeah, heong beng is one of my favourite pastries!! everytime my friend goes back ipoh, i'm sure to ask him get me some.. :p
