My food hunting adventure up the northern states of Malaysia continues with dinner at the famous Rung Reang Thai Seafood Restaurant (Restoran Thai dan Makanan Laut) in Jitra, Kedah. This is my second visit to this authentic Thai restaurant operated by a Siamese family. They have since renovated this place after the area was flooded a few years ago. Rung Reang have a few signature Thai dishes that I like very much. It you love original Southern Thai cooking, this if the place for you.
I love this deep fried catfish very much. It is very well marinated and fried till very crispy. There is no mud smell at all. This is a must have if you visit Rung Reang. I recomend this dish. One can easily finish 7 to 10 of this fried catfish! Thumbs up!
Another claypot tofu dish for the kids. The gravy is sweet and tasty!
Instead of the usual sambal asparagus, we opted for plain stir fried asparagus to that the kids can eat this dish. Crunchy and fresh.
This is Thai style steamed Red Snapper. There are cucumber, cabbage, bamboo shoots and ladies fingers (okra) in this spicy & sour dish! The soup is really nice. Beware, it is very spicy! Sure to make you eat more rice! LOL!
You can request for this super hot and spicy Thai Sambal. Really can burn your tongue but damm nice!....ha ha ha!
The total bill for 4 persons came up to be RM92 (plus drinks).
