Late Night Snacks, Bubur Kelantan Stall at Bandar Sri Damansara, Tong Sui, Fried Carrot Cake, Fried Bihun and Yau Char Kwai
If you happen to be around this area and need to take some late supper, you can pop in to this roadside makeshift stall (if you don’t mind eating in this type of environment) that sells a variety of food such as economy fried bihun (rice vermicelli), fried kueh teow (flat rice noodles), fried low shi fan (small short cylindrical sharp ends rice noodles), yau char kwai (Chinese crullers), ham chim peng (fried flour based food with five spice powder), fried carrot cake, steamed carrot cake, a few types of tong sui (dessert) and other crispy fried food. This stall open for business around 6pm and at 11pm, most of the food will be sold out by then. I love the tasty fried bihun and I will normally ‘tar pau’ (takeaway) a large packet for my kids. The carrot cake is nice and the accompanying chilli that has dried prawns in it taste good. After having all the satisfying late supper snacks, I wash down everything with a bowl of fu chuk e mai (barley with bean curd sheet dessert) tong sui. I need a heavy supper to keep me going as I have to take care of my baby boy who is a very light sleeper at night lorrrr! Ha Ha, a good reason to eat more! LOL
Fried carrot cake and crispy Chinese Chives (kucai) Fritters. Steam carrot cake with nice chilli.
Simple but nice fried bihun....................................Tong Sui, fu chuk e mai.

Is that the Malay mihun? Here I used to buy RM1 from a stall and there would be enough for three! So simple, no visible ingredients and yet it would taste so delicious. Dunno what is bubur Kelantan though. Never heard of that before,

ReplyDeleteSTP : This is a Chinese stall. The rest of the other stalls here are Malay stalls. The bihun cost RM1.80. I am not sure whey they call the tong sui bubur Kelantan lorr.

ReplyDeleteHi, I have an award for you. Pls collect at my blog here
ReplyDeleteFoongpc : thks for the award. Already pasted in my site.
ReplyDeleteCleff : My wife is a fan of tong sui but I seldom cook lorr. Normally tar pau for her. I might try out Penang style gandum, if ok I will publish, he he he.
Joyce : Yes, the picture has also some crispy fritters in it so already mixed with the carrot cake. The carrot cake is actually deep fried until crispy not fried like Char Kueh Teow. Thks for visiting my blog. Cheers
Khengsiong : Ha Ha, maybe it is tong sui ala Kelantan style. I also did not see any dish name bubur Kelantan in their menu lorr. LOL
