My family would have home cooked Kueh Teow Theng (Flat noodle soup) almost every weekend. This plain noodles soup is also my wife's favourite. We get our thin and nice Ipoh Kueh Teow from the Kepong Baru Wet Market. This stall also sells chubby and crunchy Ipoh Taugeh (beansprouts).
This time around, I fried some 'bak cho' (minced meat) with light soya sauce to go with the Kueh Teow Theng. Bak Cho add extra kick to this common hawker food. Sadly, there are no many Kueh Teow Theng stalls that have Bak Cho to offer. Then I garnish the Kueh Teow Theng with lettuce, fried garlic, spring onions, taugeh and parsley.

ReplyDeleteHi Pete,
ReplyDeleteMe again.I've bookmarked your this recipe.A question:-The chilli boh you used is the one that you can buy from shops kat Malaysia kan and not homemade? Here no chilli boh la..so how?Is it just blended dry chiilies and nothing else?No shallots and belacan added?
Looks like I won't be making this recipe today though as it does require some time to make the soup...something that I malas to do today as very sejuk today and I just want to lie in bed and cover myself with blanket and dream of kuey teow soup..hahaha
Hi Shereen : Yes, bought the chilli boh from the shops. But you can make your own using chilli powder. Add water make into paste, fry in hot oil, add salt & a little vinegar.

ReplyDeletewe dont have this kind of traditional kuey teow thng in ipoh, if we want something like this, that will be like the normal pork noodles.
