Foong Yit Restaurant – Sri Sinar, KL, Assam Fish, Braised Pork Knuckle, Fried Salted Egg Squid, Lotus Roots(non halal)

1) First Visit My lovely dinner date Miss A(woooo cannot say name, my wife will hentam(smack) me lorrr) took me to this restaurant in Sri Sinar. Since there were only two of us, we ordered the restaurant specialty Assam Fish and a side dish of sweet potato leaf. The assam fish has bunga kantan(torch ginger) and bean paste in it, so the taste is a bit different from the normal assam fish that you can find in other restaurants. We were given two complimentary bitter gourd soups. The soup stock is made from boiled fish bone, a real health dish. Bitter gourd is good in clearing toxins from our body. Foong Yit Restaurant...........................................Nice Assam Tilapia Fried sweet potato leaf...........................................Complimentary bitter gourd soup 2) Second Visit I went back again last week to eat in this restaurant. This time I have a gang of 7 people, so can order more food. The boss recommended the Braised Pork Knuckle, Fried Squid with Salted Eggs and Fried Lotus Roots. We also ordered Kailan and Assam Fish. The Braised Pork Knuckle portion is big but we managed to finish all of it. The meat is very tender. The fried squid is very nice with a tinge of saltiness from the salted egg yolk. The fried lotus roots dish is quite special. It consists of 2 pieces of lotus roots slices held together by I think, fish paste. (A bit like yong tau foo). A creative dish! The total big plus drink came out to be RM87.00. A very reasonable price. We paid RM90.00 initially but the boss said that he has mistakenly overcharged us, as we were walking to our car and gave us back RM3.00. Honest fella! Assam Fish again!.................................................Fried Lotus Roots Braised Pork Knuckle.............................................Fried Kailan Fried squid with salted eggs Address : No. 35 Jln 3/36, Bukit Sri Bintang, Kepong 52100, Kuala Lumpur.
