Thian Heong Roast Pork and Char Siew Rice, Cheras
I went to Cheras Leisure Mall for an appointment the other day and I took the opportunity to drop by Thian Heong again to eat the Char Siew/Siew Yoke Rice. I have not been back here for almost a year already and the place still looks the same, except I don’t like the floor which is too slippery.
Anyway I ordered a plate of char siew and siew yoke (roast pork) rice. For side dishes I opted for a small bowl of sweet and sour Chap Suet soup. The roast pork and char siew tasted ok. The chili sauce is spicy and nice, taste good with the roast pork. I don’t really quite like the Chap suet soup because it is a little too sweet. The chef did not manage to get the sourness and sweetness right. I finished my lunch with a glass of iced herbal tea. All these cost me RM9.60. Reasonable price?

hi pete..what is chap suet soup? to me, sounds like ice kacang but no ice.. is it the pig intestines all in to make soup? yesterday i took a plate of roasted chicken with char siew plus rice.. cost 3.50..
ReplyDeleteas long as it is nice.. the price doesnt matter.. :)
guess it's a little expensive..
ReplyDeleteClaire : It do sound like ais kacang, when I first heard it too! It is all the leftovers put into soup with a few assam keping and vegetables (normally mustard) added to it....very sour soup.
ReplyDeleteRM3.50 is reasonable price.
Wenn: I agree with you.
Restaurant? If restaurant, that price ok lah... Not if at kopitiam or hawker centre. So expensive... Here can eat two plates, plus a drink liao!
ReplyDeleteSTP : Probably the owner costed in the aircon and 2 shoplots rental....ha ha ha!
ReplyDeleteTalking about Cheras and the 'chicken lice' not sure if this is the shop selling chicken rice in golf ball shape and size? Kinda different from the normal bowl of rice. Been there once only.
ReplyDeleteBro Cheah : I don't think this one sells chicken rice balls....didn't see any..ha ha ha
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit expensive to me. "chap suet soup" is something new to me. Is this what people called "ABC soup"?
ReplyDeleteTching : I learned the Cantonese word from my fren, dunno correct or not. ABC is different soup, carrot, potato, tomato and onions!
