Ah Beng : Gud (good) morning, Jony boy, what to drink arrr?
John : Good morning Ah Beng, give me one coffee and one set of butter toast. Where is Ah Lian? I didn’t see her this morning.
Ah Beng : Oh, Ah Lian, in hospital, eye operate lah!
John : Ohhh, what happen to her eyes?
Ah Beng : You know lah, her eye ahhhh , “shoot the bird”
John : What, her eyes “Shoot the bird” ?????? How to shoot bird with our eyes? MBPJ crows hunter shot her eyes is it?
Ah Beng : No no no! Her eyes, one go here, one go there, like that! Hokkien (Chinese dialect) call it Phak Chiau Bak (Direct translation to English, Shoot The Bird) (Cantonese, Tok Kai Ngan).
John : Oh I get it, in English it is known as squint (Strabismus).
Ah Beng : Oh, “squid”?
John : Ha Ha Ha, never mind Ah Beng, just bring me my coffee!

Bubur Gandum Gula Melaka (Wheat porridge with palm sugar) - Vegetarian
Ingredients
Gandum (Wheat), 225gms
Santan (Coconut milk), from one coconut
Palm sugar, 2”x2”x3”, dilute in hot water and sieved
Water, 5 bowls
Pandan Leaves (Screw pine), 5 pcs
A dash of salt
Wash gandum and boil it in 5 bowls of water with pandan leaves until soft.
Add palm sugar and santan. Stir the mixture and bring to a boil. Add dash of salt. Your sweet dessert is ready! (You can add white sugar if the gandum is not sweet enough for you)

Chicken Bak Hu Recipe (Chicken Meat Floss)
Ingredients
Chicken meat, de boned, 1 kg
Light Soya Sauce, 7 table spoons
Dark Soya Sauce, 1 teaspoon (optional)
Sugar, 4 table spoons
Salt to taste
Water 2 bowls
Boil 2 bowls of water and put in all the other ingredients. Cook over slow fire until the water is almost all dried up. Transfer the content in the pot over to a wok. Stir fry the chicken in slow fire until it breaks into small strands and all dried up.

Beh Teh Soh (Roti Gula Putih, Hiong Piah, White Sugar Biscuit)
These Beh Teh Soh are from Butterworth. They are priced at RM3.80 for 10 pieces.
These Hiong Piah are from Perak, Yee Hup. Very crispy and contains less sugar inside. I love the taste!
Nice packaging but pricey, around RM1 per piece sold in a packet of 10s.
