Axian Dim Sum at USJ 9, Subang Jaya

Clean and nicely wrapped cups, saucer, bowl and spoon. Lausa Pau and Siew Loong Pau

Fried radish cake, egg tart, siew mai

Chicken feet, har kau and egg tart
Plain but nice porridge and yam puffs
Axian, the famous food review host at AFC and Woohoo movie star finally has his own restaurant, Axian Dim Sum. We stopped by at Axian Dim Sum, USJ for breakfast before leaving for Bagan Lalang seaside during the school holidays. The restaurant was packed with patrons having breakfast and the ground floor tables were already filled up. So we went up to the first floor and managed to get one round table after waiting for around 10 minutes. I like the way they serve the cups, spoon and saucer. Each set is individually sealed in an air tight plastic cover to ensure cleanliness. We ordered yam puffs, siew loong pau, siew mai, har kau, egg custard bun (lausa pau), egg tarts, fried radish cake, chicken feet, porridge and many more stuff that I can’t really remember! LOL! The siew loong pau is very nice and juicy. All the sweet gravy flowed out as soon as you put it in your mouth. Service is fast and overall we were quite satisfied with the food. The total bill for 6 adults and 2 toddlers came up to be RM80.

A night walk around Desa Park City Lake and Tuck Kee Dim Sum Porridge

Daddy took me out to Desa Parkcity lake for a walk after dinner. Mommy stayed at home to help ko ko (elder brother) and che che (elder sister) with their homework. The lakes around this area used to be daddy's fishing spot before they build Desa Park City and fenced it up. Wah, so dark! Actually there are many street lights around the lake but it was not captured in the photo. I was too tired after walking halfway and daddy had to carry me. Poor daddy, that is why he can never put on weight! LOL! After walking one round at the lake, daddy took me to the pet shop at the Desa Park City commercial area. I love to look at the dogs for sale and also other animals there! I hope daddy would buy me a pet dog. I want a Labrador Retriever! No pet dogs, hamster or rabbit also never mind lah! Wah, all those cute hamsters sleeping so close together! ha ha ha! After our night out, I was hungry again. So we stopped by at Tuck Kee Restaurant to buy mommy's favourite porridge (RM2.50) and my favourite Har Kin (prawn rolls, RM3.5 for 3pcs). I love to eat the har kin with sour cream. Tuck Kee has a wide spread of nice dimsum and the porridge is one of the best I ever tasted! Daddy also stopped by McD to buy two burgers for Ko ko (elder brother) and che che (elder sister). Then we bought some cakes with cream at the stall nearby to Tuck Kee and also stopped by in Speedmart to buy my milk, planta bread and some Nachos! he he he, lots of food for me to eat!

Dimsum Meal at Canton I in One Utama after Wing Chun Demonstration

.....continue from previous post, Wing Chun Demonstration at 1U................ After watching the Wing Chun demonstration at IU new wing we walked to the middle section to meet up with 3Kor (3rd Auntie). Daddy suggested that we have a little snack at Canton I Dim Sum restaurant. It was packed with people and we have to wait for around 20 minutes to get a table. The photo below was taken when at the queue.

Nothing to do while on the queue, just watch the cooks preparing wanton mee and chopping up roasted meat.

Ahhhh, finally we managed to get a seat and we quickly placed our orders. The wantan mee tasted quite good and the mee is very springy. The wantan is filled with fresh juicy prawns. I love both the soup and dry wantan mee! Nice!

3 Kor ordered the piggy pau for me and also two steamed egg yolk custard bun. I took one piggy bun home to show mummy but my kor kor (elder brother) ate it when I reached home! Arrrrrrgh!

Then the fired lobak kor came (radish cake). A little spicy but taste quite nice with the crunchy beansprouts (taugeh). Total bill plus drinks came out to be RM81.30. 3 kor belanja (treat).

Dim Sum Snacks from Yi Hao after a meal of Teowchew Porridge

After having our satisfying Teowchew porridge lunch at Sun Fatt Kee, we noticed this Dim Sum restaurant while walking back to the car. My wife suggested that we buy some snacks for the kids, especially my eldest son who is in his teenage years; he gets hungry real fast! LOL! Restaurant Yi Hao looks quite new to us and the boss promptly introduce some the signature dim sum to us. My wife bought Har Kin (fried beancurd rolled prawns) and egg tarts which are my son’s favourite. The boss told us that we must try the fried prawns with mango. This is a rather new to me. It tastes rather unique; salty with a tinge of fruitiness and sweetness from the fresh mango. Anyway, all the dim sum snacks that we bought from this shop taste quite good! Address Yi Hao Dim Sum Restaurant Jln 21/11b Sea Park, 46300 Petaling Jaya, Selangor Map to Yi Hao Dim Sum Restaurant.

Late Lunch in Dragon-I Restaurant at The Curve

Nice and cosy atmosphere. Look at all the minature terracota warriors figurines! I normally prefer eating dim sum at normal coffee shop but since I have my little toddler with me, we choose to eat at Dragon I for its’ cozy environment. You can find this restaurant chain in many shopping complexes and it is a rather popular meeting place to catch up with friend while enjoying the wide arrays of dim sum they have to offer. They have an open concept kitchen and you can actually see the chef preparing the food to be served. It is interesting to see how the chef (mainly from Hong Kong and China) making and pulling the noodles (lar mein) to form tiny strands. Dragon I serve mainly cuisine from Shanghai, Szechuan, Beijing and Lanzhou. We ordered Spring Rolls, Meat Bun, Fried Tofu, Beijing Dumpling, Sheat Kap (dessert from frog saliva) and Pork Ribs Lar Mien (pulled noodles). There total bill came up to be RM74.75. Here is the comment about the food serve plus the pictures.

Beijing Dumpling Actually I mistakenly ordered this dish. I actually wanted the fried lor bak kor (fried carrot cake). Anyway, I decided to try it. The dumplings have meat filling and spring skins. Tasted quite good but I am not into this type of dumplings.

Meat Bun The fillings for the meat bun has nice aroma and the skin is thin. On thing though, it is not oily at all and contain lean meat.

Spring Rolls There is nothing special about the crispy spring rolls. Taste good if dipped in chilly sauce.

Pork Ribs Lar Mien This is another dish that I like very much. The soup is rich is taste and the pork ribs are very tender. I added some of the fried chilly oil into the soup and this gave it an extra kick!

Fried Tofu I like the fried tofu. The skin is crispy and well marinated with spices. The tofu inside has very smooth and soft texture in contrast to the nice crispy skin. Good!

The peanut tidbits. Sheat Kap (Frog saliva jelly desssert) I forgot to take a picture of this dessert. I was told that this jelly like drink is made from frog saliva. Anyway it tastes good! Ha ha ha! Tuck Kee Dim Sum, Jln Burung Jentayu, Taman Bukit Maluri, Kepong

Tuck Kee has two separate sections; one of it is an air conditioned restaurant and a makeshift stall outside that serve dim sum. I normally go to Tuck Kei for my midnight snacks......or shall I say early morning snacks. The dim sum starts from 6am to 3am in the morning. The porridge is real yummy but unfortunately I forgot to take its pictures. They have many tasty dim sum; my favourites being the porridge, chicken feet, fried chun kin (like lobak but with prawn meat), siew mai and wu kok. There are lots of ingredients in the porridge like dried mussels, scallops, century eggs and chicken meat. Tuck Kei porridge and chun kin are in my highly recommended list if you were to visit this restaurant. The total bill for 7 types of dim sum and tea came out to be RM29.30.

The makeshift dim sum restaurant and the aircon section of Tuck Kee.

My favourite dim sum; Chicken feet and chun kin (lobak like but with prawns filling)
