Late Night Snacks, Bubur Kelantan Stall at Bandar Sri Damansara, Tong Sui, Fried Carrot Cake, Fried Bihun and Yau Char Kwai

If you happen to be around this area and need to take some late supper, you can pop in to this roadside makeshift stall (if you don’t mind eating in this type of environment) that sells a variety of food such as economy fried bihun (rice vermicelli), fried kueh teow (flat rice noodles), fried low shi fan (small short cylindrical sharp ends rice noodles), yau char kwai (Chinese crullers), ham chim peng (fried flour based food with five spice powder), fried carrot cake, steamed carrot cake, a few types of tong sui (dessert) and other crispy fried food. This stall open for business around 6pm and at 11pm, most of the food will be sold out by then. I love the tasty fried bihun and I will normally ‘tar pau’ (takeaway) a large packet for my kids. The carrot cake is nice and the accompanying chilli that has dried prawns in it taste good. After having all the satisfying late supper snacks, I wash down everything with a bowl of fu chuk e mai (barley with bean curd sheet dessert) tong sui. I need a heavy supper to keep me going as I have to take care of my baby boy who is a very light sleeper at night lorrrr! Ha Ha, a good reason to eat more! Tong Sui At Cottage Fresh Cafe, NuiXeZui Commercial Centre, PJ

I had some tong sui in Cottage Fresh Cafe recently. This restaurant is located in the NuiXeZui Commercial Centre. It has a nice interior setting and I feel very cozy here. I ordered tau fu fah (soft bean curd, RM2.50), bubur cha cha (sweet potatoes with coconut milk, RM3.60) and chye kuih (they call it vegebox here, RM3.90 for 4 pcs). The tau fu fah is smooth and nice. If you love creamy stuff, you are sure to like the bubur cha cha from this restaurant. The bubur cha cha has 3 types of sweet potatoes (yellow, violet and red) and also banana in it. The sweetness is just nice for me. The vegebox (chye kuih) is not bad but the chili is a let down. Overall it is nice to dine in such an ambient surrounding. There are also some kiddie’s tables there to keep your kids occupied so that you can enjoy your meal peacefully.

Kuih Koci, Spring rolls and dumplings.................Matt Chuk Tong Sui The Tong Sui Stall. Notice the Western food price list on the wall? This is one of my favorite hangouts during tea time. They have a large variety of kuih, fried noodles and nice Tong Sui. I ordered 1 fried popiah (spring rolls), kuih koci(nyonya kuih with black sugar filling, so so only), dumpling and Matt Chuk Tong Sui. The price for all of these came up to be RM2.80. The dumpling is quite special. The skin is like the one for Chai Kueh but the filling is made from tofu, long beans, sengkuang(turnips) and prawn. The Tong Sui stall starts operation at 2.30pm and the dishes are normally sold out by 8pm.

This restaurant also serves Western Food and business start from 4pm to 12 midnight.
