Curry Stingray, Yong Tau Foo, Chap Sheet and Steamed Soup at Jalan Burong Tiong

The Makeshift stall. Dishes sour vegetable, dry & wet yong tau foo and curry stingray This is my favourite place for lunch. The service is quick and food is simple. The makeshift stall is located under a big tree, so you are protected from the afternoon sun heat. I have been eating for the last eight years. The stingray curry is of the lemak(creamy) type; good and the stingray is fresh. It is quite hard to find this type of curry sting ray in KL. It is one of the specialties here. The yong tau foo is made on the spot, so you can expect it to be fresh. We also ordered the Chap Sheet (mixed sour vegetable stew) which is real sour; good if you like sour food. This stall also sells steamed soup. The bill for four people came out to be RM30; reasonable place to eat. Location : Jln Burung Tiung, Taman Bukit Maluri, Kepong, Kuala Lumpur Open for Lunch Only Jln Burung Tiung, Taman Bukit Maluri, Kepong Map Related Post 1) http://peteformation.blogspot.com/2009/06/chili-dried-salted-sting-ray-with.html 2) http://peteformation.blogspot.com/2009/01/fried-stingray-recipe.html

Ah Keong Yong Tau Fu at Damansara Uptown (Tofu & Vegetable with fish paste, Teluk Intan Chee Cheong Fun)

The YTF with Sesame seed..................................Ah Keong and Wife Some of the spread...................................My business partner, Shirleen busy picking the YTF

The food court at night. Some lights are not working My business partner, Shirleen has been eating at Ah Keong’s stall since 1992. She took me there last week and now I am a fan of his yong tau fu. The yong tau fu here is fresh. Ah Keong only uses fish, no meat. So, it is not surprising to see continuous stream of Muslims queuing up to order food from this stall. I ordered the Teluk Intan Chee Cheong Fun, fried bean curd, brinjal, lady fingers and fish lobak. The Teluk Intan CCF has a very nice texture and the filling is made of turnips and dried shrimps. The fish lobak taste real good, I thought it was made from meat. The price range for different varieties of yong tau foo is RM0.60, RM0.70, Rm0.80, RM0.90 and RM1.00. Ah Keong is a chatty guy and he is very generous with the yong tau fu gravy. I have to stop him from giving me too much gravy. The gravy is very good!
