Restaurant Sg Long, Kajang, Selangor

My family and I had a quick lunch in this restaurant. We had some errands to run in the area and we hopped in to Restaurant Sg Long, which is the first restaurant you will notice when you turned into the road leading to UTAR in this area. It was a weekend and not many patrons around because it was way passed lunch time. As usual, my son would want to try the Har Mee (Hokkien Mee), I had the Chee Cheong Fun with Har Ko (prawn paste), my wife ordered the duck rice for my daughter and herself. Unfortunately, when the supposedly duck rice arrived, we found out it was actually chicken. This is the problem when the owner let a foreigner run their stall. Below is the review of the food!

I always love eating chee cheong fun (RM 2 for 2 rolls) with har ko (prawn paste) sauce. The sauce is nice and it was garnished with generous amount of Chee Mau (toasted sesame seeds) & crispy fried shallots. Ok, the chee cheong fun passed the test! LOL!

I took one piece of the pork ribs from my son’s Hokkien mee (RM4). It was tender, juicy and nice. The soup is quite good also and can be enhanced further by adding more of the chilly boh (paste) provided.

The braised chicken was rather bland in taste and flavours, so was the braised intestine too. I guess I am more in to flavourful and salty type of food! However, the stall owner needs to relook into his recipe! It cost me RM14 for one plate of braised chicken, one plate of braised pig intestine and 3 bowls of rice.

Chee Cheong Fun and Fried Banana Fritter (Pisang Raja Goreng) at O&S Restaurant, Paramount Garden, PJ

After an appointment in Cyberjaya, my friend and I took a detour on the way back to PJ and dropped by at O&S for a meal of Penang Chee Cheong Fun. Both of us have been craving for Penang Chee Cheong Fun, so this was a good opportunity for us to satisfy our cravings! LOL! We ordered two plates of Penang Chee Cheong Fun with dark gooey har ko (prawn paste) gravy. The pungent gravy is nice and sweet. It tastes very good with the spicy chilli paste and crispy fried shallots. We finished out meal in no time and I drank a glass of iced coffee to my heart content. It was a satisfying simple meal indeed!

While walking out from the restaurant, my friend noticed the goreng pisang (fried banana fritter) stall. She wondered whether it is the same style as the famous one in Penang (like the one in Tg Bungah). I told her that it should be the same since most of the stall owners here are Penangites. So we bought 2 pieces as our dessert and ate them in the car. They taste quite good and the banana is sweet. The flour batter is very crispy. This is good dessert to complete our lunch meal. Penang Authentic Prawn Paste Chee Cheong Fun in O&S PJ

O&S Restaurant has been around for quite some time and I first frequented this place in the seventies when I followed my dad to KL. My favourite hawker fare here is the authentic Penang Prawn Paste Chee Cheong Fun. I normally go there early in the morning to avoid the crowd. The chee cheong fun is served with special gravy that is made from prawn paste and sweet sauce, garnished with crispy fried shallots and sesame seed. Be warned, the smell can be very overpowering but the taste........wooooo fantastic! Curry gravy is also available but I prefer the Good old Penang Prawn Paste Chee Cheong Fun. My sister 'tar pau' (take away) this one for me!
