3rd visit to MCY Restaurant....Signature Dish, Boneless Chicken

This is my third post and review on MCY Restaurant. I didn't get to try out the famous MCY House Speciallity Chicken, so I took my family back there recently. This time around the boneless chicken dish was available. It is actually chicken skin with fish paste like fillings underneath. The chicken is then deep fried using bamboo net as support until golden brown. The taste? Simply delicious.....dunno how to describe, because it is a completely new taste to me!

The homemade Choy Heong Beancurd is very soft and smooth. Taste really good!

This Curry fish Head is actually a complimentary dish and cost only RM8, available for food orders of above RM50. The curry fish head might not look very attractive but it is very tasty. It has a perfect mix of spices.

I love the tender young shoots of sweet potato plants. Sweet and taste when fried plainly with garlic.

The piping hot Ham Yee Fah Lam Poh (Pork Belly with Salted fish). Can't go wrong with this dish.....always taste good!

The total bill came up to be RM 101.20 for 5 adults and 3 children.

Back Again to MCY Desa Aman Puri for Lunch

We went back to have lunch at MYC Restaurant Desa Aman Puri last week to celebrate my daughter's birthday. While waiting for our food to be served, we ordered some dim sum which MCY has to offer for breakfast and lunch. We do not want to fill our stomach so much, so we had only a light starter of 3 baskets of dim sum.
As for our lunch dishes, I wanted to have MCY famous Fried Chicken with Fish Paste but they were all sold out the night before. Maybe, next round I will be there early for dinner! LOL!

Since, we can't have their famous fried chicken with fish paste dish,  we ordered another of MCY signature dish, the Red Wine Ribs.  I love the tender, succulent, sweet and delicious ribs! Thumbs up for this dish!

Since we have ordered more than RM50 of food, MCY offers this plate of Nyonya Assam Squid for only RM5. The last time we were here we had the prawns for RM5 as well.
I love to eat the gravy with my rice. Sourish food made my day! LOL!

As for some greens, we ordered the 4 types of vegetable stir fried with har mai (dried prawns). This dish has a good 'wok hei' (hot wok) smell.  It consist of Four Angle Beans (kacang botol), long beans, okra (ladies fingers) and brinjals. Normally, we would order this dish fried with chilly but this one without it, tasted equally good also!

We ordered this Braised Tofu so that the kids can flood their rice with the gravy. The savoury gravy is cooked to perfection and tasted yummy! It goes along well with the soft tofu!
\
I decided to have something different and ordered this Butter Fish. The serving was rather large but we finished every pieces of the crispy fried fish. This Butter Fish taste nice but I would prefer Butter mantis prawn.

Complimentary dessert from MCY Restaurant, very sweet fresh mango!

The total bill for 6 adults and 2 toddlers came up to be RM114 (including the dim sum)

MCY Restaurant, Desa Aman Puri, Kepong

I have passed by MCY restaurant many times and also noticed that they have a good crowd during peak hours. Last week I dropped by here to have dinner with my family. Sen Kee duck satay have a stall here as well. We had 2 plates of duck and chicken satay for starter while waiting for our ordred dishes to arrive. The duck satay taste real good and everyone loves the nutty satay sauce! The photo below shows the Sen Kee Duck Satay stall workers busy barbecuing satay.
Instead of ordering curry fish head, we had this fish slices with ginger and spring onions so that the kids can enjoy it too! The fish slices are fresh and taste very delisious with the dry sauce that coated them. Thumbs up for this dish!
We got this prawn dish for only RM5 for ordering food more than RM50. Can remember the name of this dish but prawns are fresh and you can taste the natural sweet flavours in them!
I love this fresh, young and crunchy sweet potato leaves. Everyone commented that this simple stir fried vegetable with garlic taste yummy!
Hah, another claypot tofu dish for the kids. This is one of the best I have tasted. Love the savoury roast pork in it! yum yum!
Fried squid in flour batter. Really crunchy and taste good with the chilly sauce that accompanied it.
Then my camera ran out of battery. But I managed to take this shoot after shutting it down for a short while and wait for it to recharge a little. So by the time I took this lemon chicken dish, only one piece is left.

The total bill for 5 adults and 3 kids came up to be RM97. We were very satisfied with the taste of the dishes served. All of them are nice!

Chinese Restaurants Around Lumut Town (Jetty Area)

After having a light meal of Pizza at Capri Italian Pizza Restaurant in Lumut town, I took my son and daughter for a walk around town. Actually, I wanted to check out how many Chinese Restaurants there are in this area. Well I managed to find four Chinese Restaurants! One of it is next to Capri Italian Pizza Restaurant not far away from The Star Orient Hotel and the other three are located at Jalan Titi Panjang near the Chinese School.

SJK(C) Eng Ling Lumut is a very old school built by early Chinese settlers in Lumut! The building is made from wood!

Kari Kepala Ikan Restaurant (Fish Head Curry) is located right after the SJK (C) Eng Ling Lumut. I love to eat the Tuapan (Braised FLat rice Noodles) and Yin Yong (Braised Fried flat noodles with rice vermicelli) in this Chinese restaurant!
Time for second round of food! ha ha ha! I will post about the food I had here later.

Yen Shabu Shabu, Manjalara, Kepong - Nice Family Lunch Outing

I have eaten in this nice shabu shabu restaurant 2 times last month but didn’t get to write this post until now because I was really tied up with my work. I have passed by this restaurant many times whenever I go to Tuck Kee in Taman Bukit Maluri in Kepong but never tried the food until recently. It is located in the same building as White Coffee and next to Shell Petrol station. Yen Shabu Shabu which is located on the first floor has a very nice and ambient dining atmosphere. What I like most is that the service is good and the people here are friendly. They use individual induction cooker for heating up the soup pot, so you don’t have to worry about your kids being burnt.

There are 4 kinds of soup for you to choose from; Tomyam, Chicken, Herbal and Hot Pepper soup. I would recommend the herbal soup which has very nice Tong Kwai aroma. One thing you will notice when you drink the soup is that it taste naturally sweet. The friendly lady boss told me that they use fruits and chicken bones to boil the soup. No wonder it taste so good and I did not feel thirsty after drinking almost 2 bowls! One of the owner and family members is a supplier of fresh steamboat product, so the food you get here is really fresh! Ala carte choices are available everyday except Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, which only buffet is available. They have a conveyor system circulating around the tables so that you can choose the food of your choice easily without leaving your table.

Yeh Shabu Shabu is very generous with the sauces and garnishing. There are six types of sauces available; satay, tomyam, chicken rice chilly sauce, ginger sauce, sweet sauce and special sauce. Generous amount of spring onions, fried garlic, fried shallots, chillies and soya sauce are available on a serving table. I was there with my family for lunch one weekend. The total bill for a set of 2 person dish, four soups, ala cart dishes from the conveyor, drinks, ice creams and some fried ala cart dishes came up to be RM44.80 (4 adults and 2 children).

Conveyor system going around the tables for you to choose your choice of food. The nice ambient dining atmosphere.

Back to Bao Bao Family Restaurant in Bandar Mahkota Cheras

I found myself coming back to this nice restaurant in Bandar Mahkota Cheras, this time to celebrate my nephew's full moon. Bao Bao is a family type of restaurant and they serve very delicious dishes. Everytime I come here, the restaurant never fail to amaze me with their special dishes. Bao Bao occupies 2 shoplots and the dining atmosphere is decent. One shoplot has aircondition installed and this makes dining here during a hot afternoon rather pleasant. As usual, we ordered tofu with gravy for the kids. Nice and savoury tofu gravy!

I love this crispy fried grouper with sweet and sour sauce. It is nice to chew on the crispy egdes of the fish! LOL!

For some greens we ordered stir fried kailan. Nice with wok hei smell!

This crispy fried chicken is very well marinated and tasty. The crispy skin has nice aroma. I recomend this dish.

This yau mak (Romaine lettuce) also have nice wok hei smell. Really nice and crunchy!

The braised pork ribs with peanuts dish is new to me. My kids love it very much. The pork ribs and peanuts are very tender. This is a very delicious and yummy dish! Try it if you ever visit this restaurant!

Complimentary agar agar pudding from the management!

Lunch at Togo Fruity Cafe, Wisma Methodist, Lorong Hang Jebat, KL

Apart from having a cute and unique name, Togo Fruity Cafe is a good place for a lunch meal. This is my second visit to this nice and comfy restaurant. There are two stalls in this air conditioned restaurant which is located in the vicinity of Wesley Methodist Church and just a stone throw from the famous Petaling Street. In my previous visit, I ate the Mee Siam but I forgot to take a picture of it! This round I ordered the Curry Mee which cost RM4.90 per bowl. The serving is rather generous for a restaurant located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. I requested for a mixed noodle of rice vermicelli and yellow noodles (mee). The curry mee is delicious and the nice tofu pok (fried tofu) soaked up all the savoury gravy. The gravy is not so thick, just nice and the curry aroma is very inviting! Since there are a few schools around this area, you will see students having their meal here after school hours. Check out this place if you happen to be around this area!
Opps, sorry forgot to take the photo before I eat! Got carried away chit chatting with my cute lunch companion! LOL!

Dinner at Soon Heong Seafood Restaurant, Taman Manjalara, Kepong, KL

I took my FIL to this restaurant when he visited me recently. Soon Heong is located in the heart of Taman Manjalara commercial centre which has many good eateries outlet. If I am not mistaken, Soon Heong has another branch somewhere in another nearby Taman but I could not give you the address because I have lost the restaurant information leaflet. The total bill for 11 adults and 2 toddlers came out to be RM134. Overall my FIL was very happy and satisfied with the dishes served. Anyway here is the food review for Soon Heong, The Curry Fish Head is very creamy and bursting with flavours. I love the soft egg plants that soaked up all the tasty curry gravy. I flooded my rice with the flavourful curry gravy.....mmmm, nice!

We ordered the fried sotong (squid) for the kids, especially my daughter. She loves fried squid. There is nothing much to say about this dish except that the flour batter is crunchy.

This is another dish for the kids, tofu with minced meat. The tofu is nice, smooth and soft. Tofu is one of my daughter’s favourite foods.

The yin yang pork ribs are surprisingly nice and my FIL love it very much. One has mayonnaise added and the other has sweet honey sauce. Thumbs up for this dish.

The buttered lai liew har (mantis prawns) is a little wet but is very tasty. This creamy mantis prawn is deep fried before butter gravy is added and it makes a good combination with the spicy curry gravy.

My FIL loves asparagus, so I ordered this dish for him. The asparagus is fried with sambal (prawn paste chilly). Fresh, crunchy and nice sambal!
