Vegetarian Chap Fan (Economy Rice) at Jalan Ipoh Kuan Yin (Goddess of Mercy) Temple

I have passed by and stopped to pray at this Kuan Yin (Goddess of Mercy) Temple in Jalan Ipoh many times but didn’t have a chance to try out the vegetarian economy rice from this stall. I was there early during lunch time two weeks ago and managed to try out the vegetarian food. This vegetarian food stall is packed with people from nearby offices during lunch time. It operates only during lunch time and is located within the Kuan Yin temple ground. Parking is free and aplenty but a little full during lunch time. As you can see from the photo, I flooded my rice with the nice creamy vegetarian curry. I also added some stir fried Romaine Lettuce and a roll of vegetarian yam lobak (wrapped in beancurd sheets). The yam lobak might look a little dark but it is very tasty. The savoury and creamy vegetarian curry is nice and spicy. Mmmmmm, I had a good healthy vegetarian lunch under the shady and cool Bodhi tree!

Parklin Vegetarian Food Stall (Chap Fan)– Atria Outdoor Food Court

My vegetarian chap fan, brown rice with four dishes (RM4). The boss was wondering why I took his photo! LOL! I normally eat my vegetarian food in Parklin which is located at the Atria, Damansara Jaya outdoor foodcourt. Parklin has been in business in this location for a very long time and I love their vegetarian curry very much. Among my first few posts, when I started my blog 2 years ago was about Parklin Vegetarian Food Stall. This stall offers vegetarian Chap Fan (economical rice) at a reasonable price. All the vegetarian dishes serve here are quite good and tasty. The vegetarian curry dish is a must order whenever I visit Parklin. I ‘tar pau’ (take away) some of the vegetarian curry for my wife once and she loves it very much. The aromatic and creamy vegetarian curry is cooked with cabbage, tofu pok (fried tofu), long beans plus other vegetables. I scooped a large ladle of curry into my organic brown rice (they have white rice as well), a piece of siew ngor, fried crispy fritters with sour cream and some long beans. The boss added more long beans for me when I was about to pay for the food. This plate of vegetarian brown rice with dishes cost me RM4. The vegetarian siew ngor (mock roast duck) and crispy fritter taste real good. I ate the whole plate clean, no bones left ...wait! Vegetarian food where got bones, ha ha ha!

Open: Lunch only

A Working Trip up Genting, Economy Rice at Weng Fatt Restaurant

I got a chance to test out my Business Partner’s brand new Toyota Corolla Altis 1.8 this morning, driving it up Genting Highlands. The car is easy to handle, loaded with power and it was real nice driving it all the way to the highlands’ peak.
Mmmm, love the smell of a brand new car. Note the automatic gear that can be used in sequential manual mode.
Our appointment was brought forward to a later time of the day, so we hang around Genting since we were already there. Yay, can go to casino! But unfortunately, I had my notebook with me, sigh! No place to safely keep it. The locker outside the casino is too small. So, we have to hang around the coffee shop. Kedai Kopi & Makanan Weng Fatt is located near the staff quarter, at the 15th Floor Car park (on level below the open air car park) opposite Genting Hotel. They have many choices of food like economy rice, noodles, stir fry noodles and mee, pau and you can also order ala carte dishes to eat with rice. We decided to have a simple meal of economy rice, since the pork trotter in soya sauce looks very tempting. Three dishes of pork trotters, kungpo cuttlefish and tofu cost me RM5 and a large cup of coffee RM2.50. Inside the restaurant which is near the staff quarters. The economy rice that I had. Entrance to the restaurant from the Car park Location: Kedai Kopi & Makanan Weng Fatt 15th Floor, RSC Shopping Centre Car Park 3, Genting Highlands 69000, Pahang Darul Makmur Open : 7am to 12 midnight

Parklin Vegetarian Economy Rice, Atria, Damansara Jaya PJ

Parklin Vegetarian Food Stall.
Rice with Siew Ngor, vegetable curry and fried oyster mushroom.
Prices of petrol up, rice up, electricity rate up ………prices of everything going up but salary and sales commission remain the same, my friend lamented! What to do? Eat vegetarian economy rice! Vegetarian economy rice is reasonably priced and also healthier, less medical bill. If you are around Damansara Jaya area, drop by to the food court beside Atria Shopping Complex. I normally take the Parklin Vegetarian food. Apart from the normal vegetarian dishes, the stall owner sometime cooks up one or two special new type of dish. This afternoon, there was a new dish (or just new to me!) mock meat with satay sauce, but I did not try it because my plate was already full and I do not want to waste food by taking more than I can consume. Price is reasonable, a plate of rice with one big piece of Siew Ngor (Fried five spice Bean curd skin- like the recipe in my post dated 15/06/08), vegetable curry and fried oyster mushroom cost me RM3.70. The place will be packed at around 12.30 noon, so go there early (12 noon) and you will not have to queue up for your food. Fried bihun(rice vermicelli) is also available. Open: Lunch only Address : Parklin Vegetarian Food, Atria Food Court, Jln SS22/21, Damansara Jaya Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
