John : Of course not, mine is fully functional! he he he! Hey, where is Ah Beng! Didn't see him around this morning.

Ah Lian : You don't know meh? After reading the termite aphrodisiac properties in the newspaper, he went out hunting for termite queen in some old abandoned wooden house. Ah Kow was with him. Then ahhhh, when he tried to retrieve the termite queen, a swarm of army termite attacked him. Some crawled into his pants and bit him right at that 'place'.

John : Is he allright?

Ah Lian : He is in the hospital right now. His 'thing' is now swollen.  Heard from Ah Kow, it is 3Xs the original size. He got what he asked for lah! Now he can last for a few days! ha ha ha!

John : Poor  Beng, lets go visit him during lunch time ok, Pete?

Tea Time, have a cuppa! - A Relaxing Drink

I love to try out different types of tea. Drinking tea is a good way to relax. Apart from that, tea contain antioxidant, protect your bones, clear our blood vessels from clots, protect against cancer (polyphenols) and increases your metabolism. The photo above shows the small collections of tea that I have.

Basically there are three types of tea; Black (fermented), Green(not fermented) and Oolong semi-fermented).
Black tea go through four steps process; Withering (fermentation), Rolling, Fermentation and Firing.
Green tea go through these 3 processes; Panfiring, Rolling and Firing.
Oolong tea go through only 2 processes; Withering (brief fermentation) and Firing (to stop fermentation)

Although I drink tea almost everynight, I can still sleep well! Caffeine has no effect on me! LOL!

Banana Bread Recipe

I know everyone is more familiar with Banana cake. This is one of my crazy recipe experiment which resulted in Banana Bread. Actually this is a healthier version of Banana cake because I used yeast instead of baking powder. Taste almost the same as banana cake! LOL!

Here is my recipe for Banana bread.

Ingredients
Flour, 3 cups
Yeast, 1 teaspoon (dried)
Brown Sugar, 1 cup
Banana, 3 large ones, blended or mashed
Butter, 2 tablespoons
Water

Mix all the ingredients together and slowly add water until the mixture is wet (not dry as compared to bread dough). The mixture should be wet so that the banana bread would be moist and not too dry. Pour the banana bread mixture into bread baking pan lined with parchment (baking) paper. Let the mixture rise for around  3 hours. Bake in preheated oven at 180 Dec C for 25 minutes.

Rosemary Roast Lamb Chunks with Mint Sauce Recipe

I bought a packet of succulent lamb chunks from the local hypermarket and marinated it right away when I reached home. This is the first time I made mint sauce to go with my roast lamb. You can use any plain jelly or just make your own. I used a little gelatin to make some sofe jelly for my mint sauce. Taste good with the roast lamb!

Ingredients to Marinade lamb
Lamb Chunks, 600 gms
Rosemary, 3 twigs fresh or 1 tablespoon dried
Thyme, 1/2 teaspoon dried
Lemon juice from 1 lemon
Salt to taste
Brown sugar, 2 tablespoons
Pepper, 1/2 teaspoons

Marinade the lamb chunks overnight with all the ingredients. Roast in preheated oven at 180 Deg C for 1 hour or until they turned golden brown.

Ingredients for Mint Sauce
Jelly, 2 tablespoons
Mint, 2tablespoons, dried or fresh around 20 leaves, chopped finely
Sugar to taste
Salt to taste
Vinegar 1 tablespoon
A little water

Break the jelly into small pieces. Add all the ingredients together. Chill the mint sauce.

Spicy Sambal Belacan with Deep Fried Ikan Kurau Masin (Salted Treadfin Fish)

Salted fish goes along well with sambal belacan (chilly with fermented shrimp paste), especially extra spicy ones. I made some sambal belachan with chilly, toasted belacan and lime juice. Then I fried some ikan kurau masin (salted treadfin fish) until they are crispy. Mmmmmmm, I love to eat these two dishes with steamed rice....yum yum! Staying skinny, peteformation way! LOL!

Marche at The Curve Courtyard

I was with my family in Marche, The Curve a few weeks a ago but didn't get to post about it earlier. At the entrance, each patron would be given a card to record down the fresh food that they purchased and cooked on the spot. One should be careful not to lose the card or else they will charge you RM200 at the exit point.
What I like about this Swiss recipe restaurant is I get to choose the fresh food I want and they will cook it on the spot for me. The whole restaurant is like a market place and my kids had a whale of time choosing the food they like.

Here are some of the random photos I snapped..

The exit.....

Marche logo, the cow!
Headed for the salad counter first......
Got some mushroom soup for my daughter.....
Attractively arranged vegetables.....

The fresh food counter......
Some of the food that we had.....forgot to snap some of it because I was busy choosing the type of fresh food I wanted for dinner....LOL
Swiss dish, Rosti which consist of mainly potatoes. Added 'telur mata sapi' (sunny side up egg) to it!
Mushroom Soup, large serving.....very creammy...
Ate most of the spaghetti before snapping the photo! ha ha ha! Sorry lah!
The total bil for mashed potato, chicken chop, papperoni pizza, mushroom soup, chocolate mousse, pasta, egg rosti, caesar salad, dinner roll and drinks came up to be RM138.39

Fried Misua (Wheat Vermicelli) Mamak Style Recipe - Spicy

I have always fried misua with dark soya sauce and sesame oil. The kids are getting a little bored with this style of fried misua. I was wondering how it would taste like if I fry them like mamak style. For best result, use thick type of misua just like the ones you normally find in Teluk Intan area. Thin type of Mee Suah would breaks easily and only suitable of soup. Since misua is a little 'sticky', it is advisible to use non-stick pan to fry it.
This is truly a Chinese meets Mamak dish! LOL!

Ingredients
Misua, 2 bunches, blanced in boiling water for short while until soft
Light soya sauce, 1 teaspoon
Eggs, 1 pc
Tomato sauce, 2 tablespoons
Chilly sauce, 2 tablespoons
Oyster sauce, 1 teaspoon
Shallots, 3 pcs, cut into thin slices
Prawns, 5 pcs, shelled (or fishcake)
Vegetable oil, 1 teaspoon
Chilly powder (optiional)

Note  :   Misua is already very salty. Therfore, I did not add salt in this recipe.

Heat up wok and pour in the vegetable oil. Saute shallots until fragrant and golden brown in colour. Add prawns and eggs. Stir fry for a short while. Add in the softened misua, tomato sauce, chilly sauce, light soya sauce, chilly powder and oyster sauce.  Stir fry gently until the misua is cooked. Garnish with lettuce and serve.
