Peteformation Coffee Chicken Recipe

I have been thinking of trying out this recipe for quite some time. It is interesting to find out how the coffee flavour will affect the taste of my chicken dish. I brewed half a cup of black coffee to be used as one of the main ingredients. I made a mistake of adding black vinegar to my dish, which killed the coffee aroma. Anyway, next time I should have just add in lemon juice from half a lemon or maybe make do without it. The dish turned out quite unique, with little burned coffee smell. For those caffeine junkies out there, I am sure you would like this recipe! Ha ha ha!

Ingredients
Chicken, ½ bird, chop into small pieces
Onions, 1 pc, cut into four
Garlic, 3 pcs, chopped finely
Sugar, 2 table spoon (vary the amount of sugar to take away the bitter taste of coffee)
Celery, 2 stalks, cut into one inch sizes
Salt to taste
Corn flour, 2 teaspoons added with a little water
Black coffee, brew half a cup

Put in 2 table spoons of vegetable oil in a hot wok. Sautéed onions and garlic until fragrant. Add a little water, sugar, soya sauce and salt to taste. Pour in the black coffee. Bring to a boil and thicken the sauce with corn flour. Put in the chicken and stir fry until the chicken is cook. Add in some water if the gravy dries up. Lastly put in the celery.

PS : Taste ok but still need to do some more experiment to improvise the recipe!

Have u tried coffee fried pai kuat? Very nice coffee aroma. And your coffee chicken is very unique too. But with the vinegar is it sour?

mNhl : Coffee pai kuat is nice, I have tried it before in Tanjong Bunga ChowYang SS2. Better don't add the black vinegar, it killed the coffee smell...use a little lemon juice instead. With the amount of sugar added it will not be sour.
