Keropok (Prawn Cracker) from Perniagaan Ikan Masin Lock Siew Moy, Kuala Selangor

The keropok on the left is raw and the one of the left after frying. A plate full of tasty keropok! My brother in law gave me a packet of raw keropok (prawn cracker) that he bought from one of his trip to Kuala Selangor area. My first reaction was it looks quite expensive for RM18 per packet. However my perception changed when after I fried them. Boy, they sure can expand! The raw keropok expanded more than 6 times when I deep fried them in hot vegetable oil. They were very crispy and tasted quite good. So, I guess paying RM18 for this packet of raw keropok is ok! After frying around 8 pieces, my large metal plate was already full. I still have two third of a packet left in my fridge. I might want to check out this place on my next visit to Kuala Selangor. This is the address I took from the plastic package. Looks deliciously crunchy! Do you just eat it like that or you dip them with something else? We use to dip it with "acar". Those pickle cucumber etc.

I like keropok. Once you start eating...hard to stop..hehe. Have you tried the purple coloured ones that are made out for sweet potatoes? Delicious. I used to buy them when I visit Bukit Tinggi. Don't see them being sold here in the city though.

Prawn or fish crakers dip into chilli/tomato sauce....yummy! And it sure make us felt satisfy when the keropok expanded when being fried. hehe...

i love dipping them in chili sauce TOO! esp fish crackers! but too bad i wont get to eat crackers till cny, it is usually the cny thing. i tried to heat them in microwave oven, but without the oil tastes, it just sucks

I guess deep frying in oil gave it additional flavours!

This is norm to me, I fry this when CNY, my husband and kids love this a lot. One more thing, I bought this keropok with much much cheaper price,, but can't tell here, hehehe..

Pete ~ Mixed two packets of keropok with two hours of F1 whoa got extra methanol and ethanol no need panadol..hehe. If you see me stocking up keropok you know what's next..The last F1 in Brazil, Jenson got me 'Buttoned' up all morning. He is now the new 2009 Champion.
