I was craving for some spicy dish to accompany my rice for dinner. It just happened that I have some frozen cuttlefish (sotong kembang) in my fridge and some long beans as well. Both are good combination for sambal(chilli) dish.
Here is my recipe for Spicy Sambal Sotong Kembang (cuttlefish).
Ingredients
Sotong Kembang (cuttlefish), 1 small, cut into bite sizes
Long Beans, 4 pcs, cut into 1 " length
Shallots, 3 pcs, chopped finely or blended
Chilli paste, 2 tablespoons
Belachan (fermented shrimp paste), 1 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Sugar to taste
Vegetable oil, 3 tablespoons
Heat up wok and put in the vegetable oil. Saute shallots and chilli paste for a short while. Add in the belachan. Keep on stiring the mixture until fragrant. Put in the long beans. Fry until the long beans are cooked. Add salt and sugar to taste. Put in the cuttle fish a fry for a short while only or else it will turned rubbery!
Serve with steamed rice or coconut milk rice (nasi lemak) while still hot.
