Go Green - Lets’ Cycle to School!
Nowadays, whenever you pass by any school during peak hours, you will see scores of private cars ferrying students to and fro from school. Most parents would fetch their kids to school instead of letting them take school bus or public transport. Anyway, our public transport system is also still not up to mark and most parents are also worried about their kids safety.
I remember, I had to cycle 10 kilometres to school when I was in form four; that was before I got my motorbike license. I had the choice of taking the public transport but during that time I was actively participating in long distance run and half marathons, so I thought the early morning exercise would help to build my stamina!
My daughter was very excited when I told her that I would let her cycle to school, with me accompanying her of course! LOL! She woke up very early this morning and by the time I went down to the porch, she has already got her bicycle out, all ready to go. I walked alongside her as she cycled slowly to school, telling her how she can stay safe while riding along the main road.
She was grinning ear to ear when we reached the school and she happily said goodbye to me as she walked into the school compound. Ahhhhh, little things we do to make our little kids happy! She even told my wife that she will pen this memorable event in her diary.
Then poor daddy had to ride the ‘small’ bicycle home! Ha ha ha

LOL!!!! Poor daddy can fit on that small bicycle? This is so interesting. And a great way to bond with your girl too.
Btw, her school bag look so heavy!
Mnhl : When go uphill, struggle with the small bicycle. School bag put on her to take photo only lar.....daddy have to carry it all the way.....good morning exercise for me! ha ha ha!
M'sian roads are not conducive for cycling la. And the weather's too hot. Unless the school's nearby.
wow, going to school even at night. which school is that???
Mei Teng : Agree, our road is not designed for cycling....our road builders authority are lousy planners!
Early morning ok lah....still cool...he he he!
Suhaina : It was 6.30am so the sky still dark....not at night...ha ha ha!
Girls are always more attached to their father. A very good walking exercise for daddy.
malaysia town planning left a lot to be desired they should learn from japan, i cycle to school everyday at 37! AHAHHAHAAHHAHH
hahaha...not bad.... can cycle to school with daddy being the chaperone...so how did daddy cycle back the bicycle? :p
Suhaina : School bag very heavy...poor kids
Manglish : Agree, I would prefer to cycle also!
Claire : Daddy looks like a Circus Bear on the small bicycle, luckily early morning not so many people around...LOL!
That's great. I love it when I can actually get up early enough to walk my kids to school. They are almost old enough to walk themselves. We have a very steep hill to climb on the way to school, I am not sure that any of my kids could manage to bike up it. A challenge for the future I guess.
U are the best daddy in the world! dat's so great for u to do that and let her have the experience of cycling to school. i cycled to school too last time :D
I think cycling on Malaysian roads are risky!! Even those on motorbikes are risking their lives! It's OK to cycle in the padang not on the road, I think : )
Good experience for your daughter. But nowadays kids school bag is so heavy with books in it, don't think they can cope cycling with the bag.
All my years in school - rpimary to secondary - I cycled. But those days not so many cars, safer...and not so hot!!! Global warming...plus not so many bad people around! Times have changed.
Wow...daddy has to wake up early and accompanied her...i m sure she is superb happy that day.
yeah i cycled to school too... but was very jealous friends who were picked up by their parents... >< even raining also gotta wear raincoat and cycle to school... but loved it!! hehehe but it's not safe to cycle in town or city...
At first i thought it was night also, keke...
wow! how far is your house from school? i used to cycle to school from standard 4 - standard 6! it was great meeting friends who also cycled to school along the way. those days will never happen again
Moonaroo : Agree with the heavy bag they carry it would be a challenge.
Merryn : Cycling to school is fun...love it!
Foonpc : Agree, our roads are not built for cyclist
Mummy Moon : Agree, their bags are really very heavy
STP : YA lor, nowadays so many bad people around and many cars around too, not safe for them cycle to school anymore.
Mommy Ling : She was very happy...LOL!
Fufu : Looks like many of us cycled to school!
